Caution should be used during these procedures as any mistakes could cause permanent damage to the screen. Therefore it is advisable to have extra men to help with this operation. Please read and understand all instructions before proceeding with any work. You will need a minimum of two ladders, or lifts to proceed with this operation.
- REMOVE SCREEN ROLLER TUBE ASSEMBLY
1. After the trap door is open turn off main AC to the unit. Use the main circuit
breaker or there is a main power toggle switch located on the top of the control
box. Disconnect the screen’s modular motor cable plug from the internal relay
box located on the back inside of case.
2. Plan ahead carefully with the positioning of the ladders or lifts as the roller tube
screen assembly is quite heavy and you want to be able to safely lower it without
causing bodily injury or damage to the screen. If you bump the tube or rest it upon
the screen fabric, you will damage the screen surface.
3. Next, loosen the lock nut on the idler end of the screen’s roller tube. You gain
access to the idler end by removing the access panel located on the right end of
the case. USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING THIS IDLER PIN AS THE
ENTIRE ROLLER TUBE ASSEMBLY WILL NOW BE LOOSENED AND
COULD FALL FROM THE HOUSING. Once the idler pin is removed the roller
tube assembly can be shifted to the right to dismount it from the motor bracket on
the internal left end plate. Remember to use caution at this time as the screen
roller can be quite heavy depending on the particular size of the screen. Remove
the screen tube assembly from the enclosure and lower it to a work space. DO
NOT LET THE SCREEN ROLLER REST DIRECTLY ON THE FLOOR AS
SCREEN DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. USE BLOCKS TO ELEVATE THE
ASSEMBLY OFF THE FLOOR.
4. Remove the motor drive assembly. Remove the small Philips head side line
attachment screw on the motor end of the tube. Grasp the motor bracket with a
pair of vise grips to pull the motor assembly out of the roller tube. If required,
switch over the rubber drive wheel and timing ring from the original motor to
the new motor. Insert the new motor drive assembly back into the roller tube.
Reinstall the left sideline attachment screw.
2. REINSTALL THE ROLLER SCREEN TUBE ASSEMBLY
- Carefully return the roller screen \ tube assembly to the case. The left motor end is inserted into the motor bracket and secured by press fit from reinsertion of the idler pin. It is important to make sure you have aligned the motor’s limit switches to point downward towards the floor once the roller screen \ tube assembly is installed back into the case. Reconnect the motor’s modular plug to the internal relay box.
- Turn on the main AC.
3. ADJUST THE LIMIT SWITCHES ON THE SCREEN MOTOR
- Make any needed adjustments to the limit switches at this time. The top “up”
stopping position is very important as the door automatically closes when the
screen has been correctly retracted. Make sure the batten stops approximately 1
inch above the door close plane when the screen is completely retracted.
The “yellow” limit switch will adjust this up or top stopping position. A
clockwise adjustment of these switches will “reduce” the setting position while
a counter-clockwise adjustment will “increase” a stopping position. Use caution
when adjusting the “yellow” limit switch to avoid the batten contacting the
screen roll.
2. Lower the screen. More than likely you will need to turn the “white” limit switch in a counter-clockwise direction to increase the stopping position of the screen when first deployed. The main AC toggle switch will aid in the adjustment of the limit switches if there is a 12 volt screen trigger controller on the screen.
