This repair procedure takes a minimum of two people to complete. You are going to carefully lower the screen roller assembly onto the floor or work table which will make the repair less difficult. Use caution and avoid striking the screen roll on any objects. These may be the ladder, table edge, tools, etc. This type of damage is harmful to the optical quality of the screen. Make sure AC power is off to the screen or the main circuit breaker is “off” before you begin.
1. Remove screen roll / ceiling cover. Push front edge of cover upward to release from
main housing. Carefully lift cover out and downward away from housing.
2. Remove electrical access cover (Fig 1). Cover is in place with 3 Philip head screws.
Disconnect the screen motor from controller by removing the wire twist nuts.

3. Cut the green ground wire coming from the motor. Allow ample wire to remain so that
re-attachment of the new incoming motor ground wire with a new wire nut can be
easily accomplished.
4. Remove screen roll assembly from housing. The roller / motor is secured in the motor
bracket with a large “C” shaped retaining ring. Remove this ring with a pair of pliers.
Remove idler end cover – audience right end of the roller tube. Loosen the
outer jam nut on the idler pin (Fig 2 next page). Now the idler pin can be loosened
enough to allow the entire roller tube assembly to release from the motor mount
Set the screen roll assembly onto a couple of small blocks placed under the roller
tube’s end. This will suspend and protect the screen from contacting the floor or table.

5. Remove the Phillip head side line attachment screw on the motor end of the roller
tube. Remove the motor drive assembly from the roller tube. Install new motor into
roller tube. Re-attach Philip head side line screw.
6. Reinstall screen roller tube into housing using reverse procedure of the removal
steps. Make sure the motor’s limit switches face downward toward bottom of
housing as you position the roller assembly back into the housing. At this time feed
the electrical wires through the end plate. Slide idler end plate / pin into bearing and
tighten the two end plate locknuts.
7. Re-connect all electrical wiring with wire nuts (match colors). Don’t forget to also re-
connect the new motor’s green ground lead.
8. Install the electrical cover and screen roller cover plate. Turn on the AC power or
activate the main circuit breaker to “on”.
9. Carefully operate screen and make any needed adjustments to the motors limit
switches. The “Yellow” limit switch adjusts the stopping position of the screen in the
up direction while the “White” limit switch adjusts the stopping position of the screen
in the down direction. Clockwise rotation of these switches will reduce stop settings
and a counter-clockwise rotation will increase the stop settings.
