Cascade Roller Tube Replacement Instructions
Please read through these instructions and plan ahead accordingly. You will need at least 2 or 3 technicians to successfully accomplish this procedure. This job may require ladders, scaffold or lifts depending upon the particular circumstances and size of the Cascade itself.
- Remove side access plates. These are at each end of the Cascade and are held in place with magnets. The original screen should be in the fully retracted position.
- Remove roller tube dust cover which is fitted to housing using tongue & groove method. Lift up and carefully pull cover toward screen roller to release it from the housing.
- Use a pair of needle nose pliers to extract the large “C” clip that is securing the motor head within the round motor mount. (See photo 1)
- Disconnect the white motor AC cable from controller or J-box
- Next, the second technician will loosen the outer jam nut on the idler end pin. Use caution when backing out the idler pin as this will allow the roller tube assembly to free from the motor mount. Both technicians will be supporting the roller tube assembly at each end of the roller tube. (See photos 2 & 3)
- Shift the entire roller tube assembly slightly towards the idler end to release it from the motor mount. Bring assembly to floor or table.
- Back out the small Philip head screw on the motor end of the roller tube. You only need to back this screw out approx. 1/8” and not removing it completely.
- Remove motor drive assembly from roller tube. Pull entire assembly out of the tube by hand. Install this assembly into the new roller tube assembly.
- Re-install the new RTAS in reverse fashion of the above steps. Make sure the idler pin is securely in position before the jam nut is tightened. If left too loose, the motor drive assembly could make a slight “clicking” sound when operational. Next, tighten down the small Philip head side line attachment screw.
- Re-connect motor’s power cable. Also secure the RTAS with the large “C” clip onto the motor mount bracket.
- Operate the motor / roller to set the motor limit switches. First deploy the screen. If needed turn the “White” motor limit counter-clockwise to extend the screen to its full “Down” setting. Next, carefully raise the screen to adjust the motor’s “Yellow” limit switch for the screen’s fully retracted setting. Make sure the screen’s batten does not contact the screen roll once the screen stops at its fully retracted position. Clockwise adjustments will stop the motor short and counter-clockwise adjustments will increase the motor’s “Up” stopping position. Again use caution to avoid possible screen damage.
- Re-install the 2 side ceiling end plate covers and roller tube dust cover. Job complete
