What is it?
The Side Plate Trigger (STI-1) wall plate is an electronic relay that receives a 12 vdc trigger input signal that activates the electric motor to deploy the projector screen. It was the original trigger device for the Stewart Model A electric screen.
How does it operate?
When a 12 vdc trigger input signal is sent, the LED indicator will light up and remain lit while the screen deploys to its final “Down” stopping position. When the trigger signal is terminated, the LED will go out and the screen will retract.
It is important to remember to allow the screen to fully deploy or retract before switching directions of the trigger signal.
TIP: Never reverse a trigger signal when the motor is operational. Always allow the motor to fully cycle and stop before sending or removing the trigger signal.
What screen models use it?
Some small retractable electric screens can be connected to an STI Wall Plate including:
- Cascade G1 and G2
- Stealth
- Model A
How to install / replace STI Wall Plate?
Remove existing side plate / trigger relay:
- Make sure the electric screen’s power cord is unplugged or the circuit breaker has been shut off.
- Remove the existing side plate at the end of the screen.
- Disconnect the wire nuts.
Install new side plate / trigger relay:
- Use the diagrams below for proper wiring connections.

- Secure wire connections with wire nuts.
- Reinstall the endplate and supply AC to the unit.
