It is widely known in the electronics world that RJ connectors can be problematic. Dust or small dirt particles can become entrapped between the pins of the socket and plug. Humid environments can present moisture / condensation build up in these connectors. When any of these types of issues occur, continuity between the pins is jeopardized causing CVM control problems.
We hear issues like: "My presets are erratic" or "I can't record new presets". "When I operate the masking panels, they only move a short distance and then stop". Most all these problems can be traced back to faulty RJ connections. Positioning data is not transferring back to the CVM. When customers experience control issues, we ask them to power down the CVM and inspect and re-make all the RJ45 connections. At this same time, we also ask to check the keypad’s RJ25 plug as well. An intermittent or continuity issue at the keypad’s port will also be problematic (electrical interaction).
In most cases, this simple procedure resolves any control problem. Once proper continuity has been restored on the RJ pins of plugs and connectors, Stewart masking products will operate properly.
